Over the last few weeks I’ve been asking a few friends and family members are they on Clubhouse. The response I get is usually, “No, What is that?” No surprise. Clubhouse is a buzzy new social network, where Your Voice is content. And we all love to be seen and heard. Well, some of us.
So what is Clubhouse?
Short version: Clubhouse is a new platform that lets people chat in real time, share stories, collaborate, and bounce ideas off of each other. Clubhouse is VOICE driven. The Clubhouse platform allows you to create an audience and gives power to the freedom of speech – the power of the voice. While other platforms focus on visual and written media (such as captions, images, and videos), Clubhouse gives new life to speech and the power of thought.
Clubhouse provides a platform for authentic conversation and expression—where people can have fun, learn, make meaningful connections, and share rich experiences with others around the world. A few guiding principles of Clubhouse:
- Be yourself. The authenticity of Clubhouse begins with the people.
- Be respectful. This applies to every person, at all times.
- Be inclusive. Tolerate, welcome, and consider diverse people and perspectives.
- Build empathy and understanding. Engage in debates that are in good faith.
- Foster meaningful and genuine connections. This is what Clubhouse is all about.
Conversations in Clubhouse take place in rooms. Within each room, you can be a moderator, a speaker, or a listener. Room moderators decide who is in a room and can speak. When you use Clubhouse, you agree to abide by the following rules at all times. You must agree not to violate these rules. Rules violations are taken seriously and can also result in removal from Clubhouse. See more
While it may seem overwhelming at times, Clubhouse is offers an amazing experience and exposure for Entrepreneurs, Social Media Influencers, and Techies.
Clubhouse is still in a private beta phase and available only to iPhone users, which is what fuels its exclusive nature. As of now, there are only two ways you can get onto the platform and they both require close relationships with people already on the app.
